At random: Fleet Admiral Halsey in a book called "The Admirals" when asked "What is the ultimate strategic weapon that is bringing the enemy to its knees? Halsey's reply "If I had to give credit to the instruments and machines that won us the war in the Pacific, I would rank them in this order: SUBMARINES, FIRST; RADAR, SECOND; PLANES, THIRD AND BULLDOZERS FOURTH."

That has to either be a kit ro one hell of a good restoration. You just don't find a car like that buried in some hay bale or in a garage.

Funny how we look at a car like that and lament about the beauty of cars from days gone by, and how gorgeous that Chrysler Airflow is. Back in the 30's when the Airflow was produced, it was considered to be an UGLY car, and became a sales flop as a result.

I wonder if 70-80 years from now, someone will see a Pontiac Aztek parked on the side of the road, post a picture and everyone lament how beautiful cars were in the early 2000's?

For the record, that Airflow IS gorgeous, and a rare bird indeed!

It's the real deal. No kit could look like this did.

If anyone says that about the Aztec I'm purchasing a seat on the next planetary commercial flight from Earth. Hopefully not offending anyone but I feel that way about the Honda Element and the Scion too.

Perhaps, but unlike the Chrysler Airflow AND the Pontiac Aztek, the Element and Scion XB are massive sales successes. They are certainly not my cuppa tea stylistically, but they fill previously unfilled gaps, that of a utility vehicle with great fuel economy, excellent interior volume, and the ability to park just about anywhere.

Lest you think only young kids are buying them, I truly suggest you check out who's driving them. The market data reveals that the majority of them are sold to folks 50+. Not bad for a couple of "Butt-Ugly" vehicles!

Unless I outlive the life of my car and truck I won't be buying anything,... or anything soon. Both get good mileage and are in good shape.

I wish I could say that truthfully. My biggest weakness is the automobile. Rarely do I stay satisfied with one car/truck for more than 3 years, although I'm in the window with my Miata, and have no plans to change that any time soon. Of course, I don't drive it daily...
