Joseph M. Donahue, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at South Windsor Rehab & Nursing Center. He was the husband of the late Mary (Klapatch) Donahue. Joseph was born on June 1, 1921 in Hartford. He was the son of the late Deliah (Cronin) Donahue and Joseph M. Donahue. He served in the US Navy, submarine division, during World War II. After returning from war, Joe settled in Manchester where he and Mary raised their family. He worked for many years in the print shop of the Traveler's Insurance Company. After retirement, Joe and Mary moved to Lake Hayward in Colchester, where they spent their summers. They also enjoyed a winter home in Barefoot Bay, FL where Joe was active in the senior softball league. He leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Donahue and Gerry Guay of Manchester and Joan and Lou Caparaso of Florida. He also leaves two grandsons, Daniel and Timothy Guay. Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Marie Hale and by his son, Stephen Donahue. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at South Windsor Rehab & Nursing Center, where Joe was a resident. The special people who worked and lived there became family to Joe, and were much appreciated for making his last years comfortable and happy. There are no calling hours. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The John F. Tierney Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.

Robert J. "Bob" Schulz, 84, of Toms River and Sun City West, AZ formerly of Paramus passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.He was born in Jersey City, graduating from Lincoln High School, Class of 1942 and attended both Colgate and Seton Hall Universities. He served in the U.S. Navy, first in the Navy Air Corps and later as WWII was ending, served out his enlistment aboard the Submarine USS Brill (SS-330). He retired from New Jersey Bell in 1983 after 37 years of service, including time with American Bell International in Tehran, Iran.He devoted his life to is family, church and community including service as a Boy Scout Leader, CCD Instructor, member of the Catholic War Veterans Post #1710 and the Paramus Board of Education.He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Blanche (nee Sherry), his daughters, Sherry of River Vale, Patricia Kroeger and her husband Rob of Paramus, Barbara of Park Ridge and son James of Rochelle Park. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Robert III, Daniel, Kathryn, Stephanie, James II and Victoria. He was predeceased by his son Robert Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen, his brother George, his sister Gertrude Flaherty as well as his parents, George and Charlotte Schulz. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.Funeral service at 9:30 AM on Monday from Vander Plaat Memorial Home, S113 Farview Avenue, Paramus and 10 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Visitation RC Church, Paramus. Interment Tappan Reformed Church Cemetery.
