At random: The USS NAUTILUS SSN 571 steamed 60,000 miles on a lump of Uranium the size of a golf ball. A diesel powered submarine would have required 3,000,000 gallons or 300 railway tank cars of oil.

.....yes, very funny.

Unless of course you are waiting for your own luggage to arrive.

In all my travels I have had the unfortunate experience of having luggage go missing in the following areas.

London to Perth ( two weeks to return it )
Hawaii to San Jose ( next day )
LA to Chicago ( 4 days to return )

so they have been 'good' experiences in that they were returned to me, in full and nothing broken.

Tips for young players......

1. Put your full contact details INSIDE the lugguage in case the tag falls/gets ripped off.
2. Don't put all your eggs in one basket....I had all my personal affects in one bag, Daniel in his. My bag was misplaced for 4 days. so, split up the lugguage, 50% in your bag, the other 50% in the other bag ( if your travelling with someone of course )
3. ALWAYS have travel insurance...it helped me last year in Chicago!
4. A lot of bags are similar, put something bright on it to help it stand out as yours!!

I am sure there are more helpful tips but they would be my main ones.

I have been very lucky in all my travels of about a half a million miles and 62 airports. My luggage was only lost once, but it was strange in how it happened.
I was travelling with my son from Texas back to Oregon. We had a connecting flight in Dallas and I got a page requesting that I see the desk attendant. She said that they had found my luggage that I did not know I lost. I thanked them and got on the plane. When I got to Portland, no luggage. Luckily, I was home so I had everything I needed. The luggage was deliverd the next day.

Kathy wouldn't let him turn his underwear inside out as he was trained to do on the boats. She took the lad by the hand and made the tight wad spend some money on new stuff
