Nicholas Louque, Jr., 68, passed away at his home in Metairie on Saturday, October 10, 2009. Nick served in the U.S. Navy from 1959-65 and was assigned to the blue crew on the USS Robert E. Lee (SSBN-601) nuclear submarine as a Yeoman. He was a member of the USS Robert E. Lee Association and proudly served as secretary/treasurer form 2005-2009. For many years he was a member of the Krewe of Zeus, and also served as an officer. He was a commercial plumbing contractor and owned A Plumbing Service from 1980-2004. Most recently he was a plumbing inspector with the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board. Beloved husband of 48 years to Audrey Ziemer Louque; father of Kim (Robert) Cohen, Nicholas (Debra) Louque, III, and Nicole Louque; grandfather of Natalie and Sam Cohen; brother of Kathryn Louque Bindewald; uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Louque, Sr. and Althea Lion Louque. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Chapel, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery), on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park. Friends may visit after 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions to the Gilbert P. Shaddock Scholarship Fund.
