At random: The Grampus and Pike were commissioned in ceremonies at Mare Island the same day, Thursday, the 28th of May 1903. A young naval officer, Lieutenant Arthur MacArthur, Jr., older brother of General Douglas MacArthur, assumed command for both vessels at the same time.

Subject: Eternal Patrol Report

The past few weeks Iv'e been trying to gather information to submit to Charles Hinman of Bowfin Museum and who did the r & d for the "On Eternal Patrol" web page, about the RMC(SS) who was killed on USS Bugara (SS-331) in the summer of 1956 while underway between San Diego and San Francisco. The only other person I have been able to contact who remenbers the incident was the former CO at the time who remembers the same details as I do. He's not sure and I'm fairly certain the Chiefs name was Rosecrans.

Does anyone know where/who to contact with such scant information?

Dave, if you have not already done so, go to http://www.decklog.com/ss-331.asp and click the CREW LIST button.  Click the Member Login button (use your ussvi code) then click custom search.  Click on the box for 1956, then submit search.  It will return the names and contact info for twelve men who were aboard at that time.  Maybe there is someone on that list you have not tried yet.  Good Luck!
