At random: The United States submarine USS TRITON was fitted with twin reactors and was considered the longest submarine ever built until the advent of the OHIO class. The TRITON was designed for a surface displacement of 5,900 tons. Large submarines of other countries have been the Japanese I-400 (5,220 tons), and the French SURCOUF (2,880 tons).

Where were those pics taken, Gary? Sure is a "target rich environment" with all those DD's.
Ain't it funny how we thought we were really a "Different" Navy from the skimmers? But when you come to think of it, we really did have seperate work ethic and code to live by.

Hay, that's my old boat 246, the Croaker. Joined her in Philly yards in July 1962, then up to New London where I had orders to the Lafayette at EB. My last boat was the Thornback 418, did a Gitmo op just before getting out in April 1966.

Jack, CRS is ahold of me, but, were you part of the SS-418 Folly Beach Snake Ranch Association? There was "Lube Oil" Turner, "Nigger" Reynolds-who was a white guy, and a few more who helped the attendance at "The Church" at Folly Beach, SC on Sunday mornings. Those were the days my friend

You sure did miss some good ol diesel boat days. Back in the early to mid '60's the Thornback, Chivo and Sennet, all Squadron 4 boats, had some fantastic crews. The Gitmo Hilton was one of our southern most Headquarters.

Okay, seems Tusk, Sea Robin, Sea Owl and Sablefish were all there in the summer of 1967. Top photo is Sea Owl in Kiel Canal, Germany.

Targets and boats photos maybe late 67 early 68.
